Hawzah News Agency- Bitter events took place in the last months of Hazrat Zahra’s blessed life and the bitterness and adversities she went through after the demise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) were such that according to historical sources, no one saw her laugh in that period.
The Fadakiyeh sermon that has remained from that time is proof of those difficulties and pains. The sermon, delivered by Hazrat Zahra (PBUH) in the presence of the Sahaba (Holy Prophet’s companions), clearly unveils what she went through after the Prophet (PBUH). Losing her father, the event of Saqifa, events related to caliphate and the seizure of Fadak were part of the reasons that led to this sadness and grief.
Hazrat Zahra (PBUH) and Imam Ali’s (PBUH) opposition to the Saqifa decision led to their being threatened. After they refused to pledge allegiance with the caliph of the time, their home was attacked, during which Hazrat Zahra (SA) was injured and her son was aborted. She fell ill and was martyred a short time later.
Hazrat Zahra (PBUH) asked Imam Ali (PBUH) that those opposing him should not attend her funeral. She asked him to bury her at night. According to famous reports, Hazrat Zahra (PBUH) was martyred in Medina on the 3rd of the lunar month of Jumada al-Thani in the year 11th after Hijra. Her age at the time of martyrdom is said to have been 18, while according to a Hadith from Imam Baqir (PBUH), she was 23 when she was martyred.
