Hawzah News Agency- The uprising and global revolution of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) has certain signs and conditions. Knowing these signs will have significant effects, since these signs are a harbinger of the advent of the Promised Mahdi (peace be upon him), the occurrence of each of them will shine the light of hope in the hearts of those waiting and will also be a reminder and warning for the opponents and deviants to abandon evil and corruption, as well as preparing the waiting to understand the emergence and acquire the ability to accompany and be present with the infallible Imam (peace be upon him).
In addition to the fact that awareness of the events that will occur in the future can help us in planning appropriately to better confront them, just as these signs are a good criterion for identifying false claimants to Mahdism, therefore, if someone claims to be the Promised Mahdi (PBUH), but his reappearance is not accompanied by these signs, it can be easily recognized that he is an imposter.
In the narrations of the infallible Imams (PBUT), many signs of the emergence have been mentioned, some of which are natural and normal phenomena and some are unusual and miraculous.
Among these signs, we will state the ones that are prominently mentioned in the most reliable sources, and at the end, we will briefly list a number of other signs.
Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) says in a narration:
«خَمْسٌ قَبْلَ قِیَامِ اَلْقَائِمِ عَلَیْهِ السَّلاَمُ اَلْیَمَانِیُّ وَ اَلسُّفْیَانِیُّ وَ اَلْمُنَادِی یُنَادِی مِنَ اَلسَّمَاءِ وَ خَسْفٌ بِالْبَیْدَاءِ وَ قَتْلُ اَلنَّفْسِ اَلزَّکِیَّةِ.»
There are five signs before the rise of the Qaim (PBUH): the Yamani, the Sufyani, the heavenly call, the Khasf al-Bayda (the engulfing of Bayda) , and the killing of "al-Nafs al-Zakiyyah" (meaning "the pure soul"). (Kamaluddin, Vol. 2, p. 649)
Now, with regard to this narration, we will explain the five signs mentioned, which have been repeated in numerous narrations, in a very brief manner, although all the details of the events related to these signs are not clear to us.
A. The emergence of Sufyani
The emergence of Sufyani is one of the signs that has been mentioned in numerous narrations and is described as follows: Sufyani is a man from the lineage of Abu Sufyan who rises from the land of Syria shortly before the advent. He is a criminal who does not hesitate to kill and slaughter and treats his enemies in a cruel manner.
According to some narrations, fifteen months will pass from the emergence of Sufyani to his killing.
B. "Khasf al-Bayda", "the engulfing of Bayda,"
Khasf means to sink and Bayda is a region between Mecca and Medina.
The meaning of Khasf al-Bayda is that Sufyani will send an army to confront Imam Mahdi (PBUH) towards Mecca. When his army reaches the Bayda region, it will miraculously sink into the ground.
C. The Yemeni Uprising
The uprising of a leader from the land of Yemen is another sign that will occur shortly before the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH). He, who is a righteous and faithful man, will rise up against evils and deviations and will fight evils and corruption with all his might. Of course, the details of his movements and actions are not very clear to us.
D. The Heavenly Call
Another sign that will occur before the appearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is the Heavenly Call. This heavenly call, which according to some narrations is the call of Gabriel (peace be upon him), will be heard in the month of Ramadan, and since the uprising of Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him) is a global revolution and everyone is waiting for it to happen, one of the ways for the people of the world to be aware of this event will be this heavenly call.
This cry, as well as being a source of joy for the believers, is a warning to the evildoers to give up their evil deeds and join the circle of helpers of the global reformer.
E. Killing of Al-Nafs al-Zakiyyah (the Pure Soul)
A pure soul means a person who has reached maturity and perfection or a pure and innocent person who has not committed any murder. The meaning of killing a pure soul is that shortly before the uprising of Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him), a prominent figure or an innocent person is killed by the hands of the Imam's opponents.
According to some narrations, the time of this event is fifteen nights before the uprising of Imam Mahdi (PBUH).
Many other signs have also been mentioned in the narrations, some of which include:
The emergence of the Antichrist (a cunning and evil being who misleads many people), solar and lunar eclipses in the blessed month of Ramadan, the manifestation of seditions and the uprising of a man from Khorasan, etc.
It is worth mentioning that the explanation and analysis of these signs have been stated in detailed books.
