Hawzah News Agency- In a message to the 21st International Conference on the Doctrine of Mahdism, the senior Iranian cleric stated that the belief in a savior is not exclusive to Muslims but is shared by followers of other Abrahamic faiths. However, he emphasized that this concept has not been developed as a fundamental doctrine in any school of thought as profoundly as it has within the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT).
"The belief in Mahdism and the essential need for a savior is, in reality, the continuation of the station of Imamate and the necessity of his existence in human society," Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said. "Without the Imam, the path of guidance is lost, and humanity is harmed in its journey toward true felicity. Therefore, the belief in the station of the Imam and in Imamate can be considered the most important hallmark of Shiism."
The Grand Ayatollah pointed to the current state of global injustice, tyranny, and chaos, describing it as perhaps unprecedented. He identified the "most significant factor" behind this, particularly in the region, as "the existence of the illegitimate and oppressive Zionist regime and its supporters."
"The painful tragedies in Gaza and Lebanon, and the assaults on our dear country, are clear for all to see," he stated. "Undoubtedly, what fortifies us in standing firm against this bloodthirsty regime is faith and belief in a superior power that governs all human powers. Nurturing this belief and hope lays the groundwork for cultivating true awaiters."
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi highlighted the importance of understanding the enemy, their schemes, deceptions, and methods of infiltration, as this knowledge thwarts their efforts to extinguish the light of faith in the coming of the savior and to eradicate the culture of awaiting his advent.
"Undoubtedly, exploring the various dimensions of the phenomenon of the reappearance of the Imam, such as the true meaning of awaiting deliverance, preparing for the advent, and the attributes of the Mahdavi government—in short, anything that increases the insight and awareness of Shiites and Muslims in general on this matter—is a valuable and commendable endeavor," he added.
Concluding his message, the esteemed source of emulation extended his gratitude to the organizers and participants of the conference. He prayed to the Almighty for the security and prosperity of Iran, the health and well-being of its noble people, and expressed hope that until the moment of the Imam's reappearance, this land would remain the stronghold of the lovers, awaiters, and followers of the Imam of Time (PBUH).
