Do Not Harm the Faithful, Nor Mirror the Ignorant

Hadith of the Day is a daily feature highlighting timeless sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and the Ahlul-Bayt (pbut), offering insights into faith, ethics, and spirituality for contemporary life.

Hawzah News Agency- Ja'far ibn Ali al‑Kufi narrated from his father al‑Hasan ibn Ali, from al‑Abbas ibn Amir, from Salih ibn Sa'id al‑Sakuni, from Abu Hamzah al‑Thumali, from Imam Baqir (pbuh), who said:

النَّاسُ رَجُلَانِ مُؤْمِنٌ وَ جَاهِلٌ فَلَا تُؤْذِ الْمُؤْمِنَ وَ لَا تُجَهِّلِ الْجَاهِلَ فَتَکُونَ مِثْلَهُ.

People are of two kinds: believer and ignorant.

So do not harm the believer, and do not act ignorantly toward the ignorant — lest you become like him.

Al-Khisal,Book 2,Chapter 57
