Hawzah News Agency- Speaking during a visit to the International Educational and Research Complex of the seminary system, Ayatollah Arafi described the Ten Days of Fajr marking the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution as one of the most significant events in Islamic history, achieved through the leadership of Imam Khomeini and the sacrifices of the Iranian people. He said the revolution’s message transcends national borders and remains relevant to Muslims and freedom-seekers worldwide.
Ayatollah Arafi emphasized that seminaries have, over recent decades, adopted a more international and scholarly outlook to promote the scientific and intellectual discourse of the Islamic Revolution. He praised the efforts of international departments and research centers, while calling for structured long-term planning, including a second five-year development plan aligned with official documents and approved strategies.
Highlighting major challenges, he noted that much of the academic work on Islam at the global level is currently produced by non-Iranian institutions and university-based Islamic studies centers. He argued that seminaries must take a more proactive role in global knowledge production, translation, and cultural engagement.
Ayatollah Arafi stressed the importance of making Islamic teachings—particularly in fields such as philosophy, jurisprudence, theology, hadith, and Qur’anic exegesis—accessible in diverse languages and cultural contexts. He said this requires not only translation, but also the development of appropriate vocabularies, academic literature, and conceptual frameworks within world languages.
Addressing future challenges, he warned that rapid advances in cognitive sciences and artificial intelligence are fundamentally reshaping knowledge systems. He said religious and academic institutions must urgently prepare for these transformations to remain relevant in global scientific and cultural debates.
Ayatollah Arafi concluded by calling for sustained effort, strategic vision, and confidence in existing capacities, saying that only through organized global engagement can Islamic seminaries effectively convey authentic Islamic teachings to today’s world and future generations.
