Iranian Leader’s Envoy in India Grieves “Heartbreaking Tragedy” After Pilgrims Killed En Route to Medina

Hojatoleslam Abdul Majeed Hakimollahi, the Representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in India, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of a group of Indian pilgrims who lost their lives in a road accident on the route from Medina to Mecca. In a message released on Tuesday, he extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and to the Muslim community of India.

Hawzah News Agency- In his statement, Hojatoleslam Hakimollahi said the news of the fatal accident had caused “deep grief and pain,” adding that the victims—faithful pilgrims on their spiritual journey—had “returned to their Lord in a state of devotion.”

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
“With utmost regret and sorrow, the news of the fatal traffic accident on the way from Medina to Mecca—taking the lives of a group of faithful and dear Muslim pilgrims from India—has brought profound sadness to our hearts.
I extend my sincere condolences to the great nation of India, the bereaved families, the respected survivors, esteemed scholars, the Muslim community of India, and all those devoted to the sacred Hajj of Prophet Abraham.
I ask Allah Almighty to grant the departed souls His vast mercy and forgiveness, and to bestow patience and divine reward upon their sorrowful families.”

According to local reports, the pilgrims were traveling by bus on the route between Medina and Mecca when a serious traffic accident occurred, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. Emergency teams responded to the scene, and the incident has sparked widespread mourning within India’s Muslim community.

Saudi Arabia sees millions of pilgrims visiting its holy sites each year, especially during the Hajj and Umrah seasons. Road accidents involving pilgrims—often traveling long distances between holy cities—have been a recurring concern, prompting repeated calls for enhanced safety measures and stricter transport regulations.
