Hawzah News Agency- The massive ceremony, which is currently underway in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala, has drawn a sea of mourners representing Iraq's diverse tribes, ethnicities, and political currents. Participants, chanting religious and epic slogans, expressed profound sorrow while vowing to uphold the path of Resistance and preserve the unity of the Islamic Ummah. The atmosphere is charged with intense emotion, prayers, and tears, with attendees describing the event as a renewal of allegiance to the ideals of Islam, religious Marja’iyyah, and the Axis of Resistance.
Observers say the massive turnout by the Iraqi people epitomizes the deep-rooted bonds between the Iraqi nation, the Shia Marja’iyyah, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Resistance Front—bonds cemented by shared religious beliefs, common history, and unified ideals.
Ahead of the ceremonies, a high-ranking delegation from Iraq’s Coordination Framework arrived at Najaf International Airport to participate in the official and public events. The Supreme Committee overseeing the funeral confirmed that all logistical and technical preparations were fully in place for the grand procession in Najaf and Karbala.
Mourners stressed that this colossal gathering not only showcases the unity and empathy of regional nations but sends a crystal-clear message that the Resistance Front continues to enjoy massive popular backing, and that any threat or pressure will be met with cohesion and steadfastness.
The ceremonies began late last night with a reception by Iraqi and Iranian officials at the airport and have continued with massive crowds, Quran recitations, elegies, and slogans of unity—creating indelible scenes of love and loyalty toward the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Sha’abi) announced that more than 2.3 million people have participated in the funeral of the Martyr Leader of the Ummah in Najaf alone.
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zayidi arrived in Najaf province to take part in the reception ceremonies. His media office confirmed the premier’s attendance to honor the body of the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Supreme Religious Authority Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
In a joint press conference, Major General Saad Maan, head of Iraq’s Security Media Cell, and Najaf Governor Youssef Kanawi confirmed that all arrangements for the funeral in both Karbala and Najaf have been finalized. Maan noted that over 3,000 journalists are covering the event and emphasized that no obstacles exist to prevent any figure or individual from joining the commemoration.
As the surge of mourners continues to descend from all corners of Iraq, the number of participants in Najaf has already eclipsed the 2.3 million mark and is rapidly rising. According to the Karbala Governorate, forecasts predict that up to 7 million people will take part in the funeral procession for the Martyr Imam of the Ummah.
