Hawzah News Agency- Speaking during a meeting with Hojatoleslam Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of Iran's judiciary, on the occasion of the Arbaeen commemoration, the senior cleric described the massive pilgrimage as the fruit of the "Ya Hussein" culture and the timeless message of Lady Zainab (PBUH).
"The Arbaeen movement is the product of that enduring message, where Lady Zainab (PBUH) proclaimed that we cannot be extinguished," the Grand Ayatollah said.
The revered Marja continued by stating that the words of Lady Zainab (PBUH) in Kufa were not merely a discourse of grief and tragedy. He noted they were a profound rebuttal to the deviant ideology of predestination. When Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad tauntingly asked her, "Did you see what God did to your brother?" and later claimed that "God killed Ali ibn al-Hussein in Karbala," the matter shifted from a political dispute to a theological one based on compulsion.
"Lady Zainab (PBUH) replied, 'I saw nothing but beauty.' She affirmed that God's action is beautiful, but identified the regime as the murderers. It was they who killed Ali ibn al-Hussein (PBUH). In doing so, she shattered the Umayyad ideology of predestination and articulated the truth of human free will and responsibility," Ayatollah Javadi Amoli explained.
Reflecting on four decades of scholarly work on the Holy Quran's exegesis, the Grand Ayatollah noted that this grand seminary effort has spanned forty years and involved four successive generations of scholars, each contributing a decade of relentless work to produce the Tasnim exegesis.
"If the Tasnim commentary extended in length, it was due to the new scientific issues and fresh questions that emerged throughout these years," he stated. "Faced with every problem, these successive generations rose to the challenge and answered the queries. Therefore, this path of exegesis is not the work of a single individual; it is the collective product of the seminary."
He emphasized that the Islamic Seminary must remain perpetually ready to respond to doubts, critiques, and new questions, adding that this is only possible if it maintains its comprehensiveness and academic dynamism. He stressed the necessity for foundational principles, such as the "primacy of freedom," to be scientifically taught and explained within the seminaries.
Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli also touched upon the status of esoteric knowledge in Islamic jurisprudence, affirming that such knowledge is not a document for legal judgment. He noted that the Infallible Imams (PBUT), despite possessing divine knowledge, ruled on the basis of evidence and oaths, in accordance with the prophetic tradition: "Verily, I judge between you by means of evidence and oaths."
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Grand Ayatollah described the widespread and selfless presence of the people in defending the Islamic Revolution and the country of Iran as a manifestation of divine assistance. Citing the Quranic verse, "It is He who supported you with His help and with the believers," he stated that the conscious mobilization of men, women, and the youth is an instance of God's support, much like the miraculous victories granted to early Muslims.
In concluding, Grand Ayatollah Javadi Amoli honored the memory of all martyrs of Islam and the Revolution, particularly Imam Khomeini, and prayed for the servants of the Islamic establishment to succeed in safeguarding the divine trust until its flag is delivered to its rightful owner, Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance).
