Hawzah News Agency- Despite centuries of challenges, the pilgrimage has grown into a global phenomenon. In 2026, an estimated five million international pilgrims are expected to travel to Karbala from every continent. Among them are thousands from Turkey, who have established numerous service processions (mawakib) along the pilgrimage routes to assist fellow visitors.
This growing international participation reflects the universal appeal of Imam Hussain's (peace be upon him) message and the tireless efforts of volunteers and organizers who welcome pilgrims while promoting the values of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them).
Organizers emphasize that every pilgrim serves as an ambassador for these values. Respect for others, cleanliness, discipline, cooperation, and acts of kindness are seen as practical expressions of the principles embodied by Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and opportunities to present a positive image of Islam and the Iraqi people to the world.
