Hawzah News Agency- Speaking during Friday prayers in the western Iranian city, Hojatoleslam Seyyed Abolhassan Fatemi, the representative of the Leader in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province, stated that America is caught in a quagmire while the Islamic Republic's power has been consolidated as a recognized force on the global stage.
"The world has come to believe in the Iranian nation, and America's decline and decay have become evident to any fair-minded observer," he said. "America imagined it could finish off Iran in a short period, but today it faces a nation that defends its land, values, honor, dignity, Islamic system, faith, and Leader with all its might."
Threats Lose Teeth as Credibility Evaporates
Hojatoleslam Fatemi pointed to the repeated threats issued by American officials, particularly Donald Trump, arguing that their consistent failure to materialize has rendered them utterly discredited. Even those who previously backed Washington, he noted, are now reproaching it.
"America previously achieved its military objectives rapidly in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan and assumed it would face similar conditions against Iran," the cleric said. "However, following the recent war, it failed to reach its goals and was forced to declare a ceasefire."
US Withdrawing Assets as Options Shrink
The Friday Imam cited reliable reports indicating that the United States is relocating equipment from several regional bases, including in Erbil, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan—moves he described as signs of anxiety and retreat.
"The Islamic Republic has warned that if America makes a wrong move, its bases, interests, and those of its allies in the region will be exposed to harm," he stated. "This has severely limited America's options."
Hojatoleslam Fatemi stressed that Washington lacks the capacity for a ground war against Iran. Even strikes on the country's infrastructure, he added, would trigger an Iranian response that would jeopardize regional security and energy resources—a scenario American officials and their allies deeply fear.
Region Fears the Fallout
The senior cleric contrasted Iran's proven resilience under years of economic pressure with the acute vulnerability of nations that have tethered their security and economies to Washington. "These countries cannot withstand even the slightest damage to their energy resources and interests," he observed.
He noted that recent diplomatic maneuvering and mediation efforts by certain Arab states reflect their alarm over the potential consequences of any new conflict. "If they believed in the possibility of America succeeding in a confrontation with Iran, they would not be engaging in such actions," he said.
Iran Never Initiates War, But Stands Ready
Concluding his remarks, Hojatoleslam Fatemi emphasized that the Islamic Republic has never been the initiator of war. "The Iranian nation has always been and will remain prepared to defend its territory, values, Islamic system, and very existence," he declared. "With trust in God Almighty, the support of Imam Mahdi, and the unity of the people, we will traverse this path with authority."
