Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Hakimollahi made the remarks during a strategic meeting in New Delhi with Dr. Syed Saadatullah Husaini, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. The delegation-level talks, held at the Jamaat’s central office, focused on the challenges facing the Muslim world, the intellectual crises confronting youth, and avenues for joint scientific and educational cooperation.
Both sides described the meeting as a significant step toward strengthening the long-standing intellectual and social ties between the Office of the Leader’s Representative and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Dr. Husaini welcomed the delegation, stressing the movement’s decades-old commitment to moderate Islam and interfaith dialogue.
Youth and the Challenge of Cyberspace
In his address, Hakimollahi noted that nearly 70 percent of young people today receive their intellectual and cultural input directly from online platforms and social networks. In such a climate, he said, the responsibility of religious institutions, scholars, and organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami is greater than ever.
He warned of the increasing impact of Western cultural penetration, the harmful effects of unregulated digital content, rising global suicide rates, the erosion of family structures, and weakening religious awareness.
Islamic institutions, he emphasized, must take an active and influential role in cyberspace to guide the young generation toward clarity, stability, and spiritual awareness.
Focus on Joint Educational and Scientific Initiatives
The two sides exchanged views on the need to design and implement joint educational programs, research projects, conferences, and youth-focused workshops. They also stressed the importance of building sustainable platforms for interfaith dialogue and promoting moderate Islam as a shared priority.
Three Approaches to Islam Outlined
Hakimollahi detailed three prevailing interpretive trends in the Islamic world:
- Takfiri Islam:
A violent and extremist approach represented by groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda, and Boko Haram — movements rooted in sectarianism and distortion of religion. - Liberal Islam:
An interpretation that attempts to conform Islam to Western ideologies, ultimately weakening the Islamic world’s stance on core issues, including Palestine. - Moderate Islam:
The model endorsed by Iran and supported by scholars and institutions like Jamaat-e-Islami, rooted in justice, dialogue, peace, and resistance to oppression.
Hakimollahi expressed appreciation for Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s positions during the 12-day Iran-Israel confrontation and its principled support for the Islamic Ummah.
Agreement on Future Cooperation
Both institutions agreed to expand collaboration in several areas, including:
- Joint scientific and research initiatives
- Intellectual, cultural, and educational programs
- Seminars and conferences on contemporary challenges
- Youth-targeted educational workshops
- Production of shared digital educational content
Dr. Saadatullah Husaini stressed that such cooperation is a pressing necessity for the Muslim community and affirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami Hind will pursue these initiatives with full commitment.
Both parties described the meeting as the beginning of a new chapter of intellectual convergence, religious cooperation, and sustained scientific and educational partnership.
