Iran Judiciary Rejects Foreign Pressure, Says Trump’s Insults Amount to Declaration of War

Iran’s Prosecutor General has strongly dismissed claims that the country’s judicial system could be swayed by foreign pressure, warning that recent insults by US President Donald Trump against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution amount to a declaration of an all-out war.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking during a visit to the city of Qom, Prosecutor General Mohammad Movahedi addressed members of a seminary-affiliated body tasked with countering hybrid warfare. He said new and effective cooperation has begun between the Judiciary and the group, describing it as a specialized structure actively fulfilling its responsibilities.

Movahedi stressed that religious seminaries carry an important responsibility in the cultural domain and must be given special attention. He added that the Judiciary will make use of the group’s capacities in efforts aimed at preventing social challenges and correcting shortcomings.

Referring to recent developments in the country, the Prosecutor General said the events once again demonstrated the significant role played by mosques, religious scholars, and Islamic symbols in Iranian society. He noted that this very influence has led Iran’s enemies—particularly what he described as the global hegemonic powers—to target these institutions.

He also sharply criticized recent remarks by the US president, describing him as irrational and arrogant. According to Movahedi, after witnessing the swift and decisive response of Iran’s revolutionary people during the January 12 nationwide rallies, Trump adopted unstable positions and falsely claimed that he had prevented the execution of 800 people in Iran.

“This claim is entirely false,” Movahedi said. “No such number exists, and the Judiciary has never made such a decision.”

Reaffirming the independence of Iran’s judicial system, he emphasized that the Judiciary functions within a clear separation of powers and does not accept orders from any foreign actor. “Under no circumstances do we submit to external pressure,” he said.

Reacting to Trump’s recent statements about the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Movahedi warned that such insults and provocations are viewed by Iran as equivalent to a declaration of full-scale war. He said that, based on this understanding, any act of aggression would put US interests around the world at risk, as they could be targeted by supporters of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In his closing remarks, the Prosecutor General said that in such a scenario, bases and interests of what he called the arrogant US regime and the Israeli regime across the world—especially in the region—could be considered legitimate targets of a lawful response by Iran and its supporters, whom he said are present not only in the region but also inside the United States.
