Hawzah News Agency- The protest, organized by the Palestine Committee at the University of Chile, was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities on Monday. Participants displayed a striking exhibition featuring images of martyred Palestinian children, the ruins of Gaza, and scenes of resistance against occupation. A bold message at the faculty’s main entrance asked: “How long will our universities remain silent in the face of genocide?”
Organizers said the event aimed to break the prevailing indifference on campuses and challenge the normalization of Israeli crimes. “Silence in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is itself complicity,” they stressed.
In a statement, the Palestine Committee condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression, saying: “Since last October, the Palestinian people have faced relentless bombardment, siege, and cultural erasure. In such circumstances, the inaction of universities amounts to collaboration with oppression.”
The students urged the university administration to cancel all agreements and joint projects with Zionist institutions and called on the Chilean government to sever diplomatic, commercial, and military ties with Israel, arguing that any continued cooperation represents “indirect support for apartheid.”
A committee member told reporters: “The university must be a space for conscience and justice, not silence and neutrality. If we can’t speak out for justice here, where else can we?”
The demonstration concluded with participants chanting “Free Palestine, from the river to the sea,” pledging to continue solidarity events and awareness campaigns in the coming weeks.
