Hawzah News Agency- The match was held on Thursday morning at the Asia Arena in Manila. The Iranian national team, led by Roberto Piazza, started strongly by taking the first set 25-22. However, the Czechs managed to win the following three sets 27-25, 25-20, and 25-21, securing their place in the semifinals and ending Iran’s campaign after five matches in the tournament.
Iran began the match with Arshia Behnezhad, Morteza Sharifi, Yousef Kazemi, Ali Hajipour, Mohammad Valizadeh, Pouria Hossein Khanzadeh, and Mohammad Reza Hazratpour (libero). Other players who appeared with the coach’s approval were Bardia Saadat, Amir Hossein Esfandiar, Ali Haqparast, Seyed Issa Naseri, and Arman Salehi.
The match lasted 112 minutes and was officiated by Uraj Mokri of Slovakia as the first referee and Ismail Ibrahim Al-Balushi of the UAE as the second referee.
Fabio Azevedo, the current president of the International Volleyball Federation, and Ary Graça, former president, were among the special spectators of the contest.
The Czech Republic, which had recorded three straight-set victories over Serbia, China, and Tunisia and suffered only one loss against Brazil in the earlier stage, confirmed its rising status in world volleyball with this victory over Iran.
