Imam Ali Holy Shrine Marks Prophet’s Martyrdom Anniversary with Mourning Flag Ceremony

The Imam Ali Holy Shrine in Holy Najaf held a ceremony on Wednesday evening to raise the flag of mourning, marking the beginning of commemorations for the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s martyrdom. The event drew a large crowd of scholars from the seminary, local officials, academic figures, and representatives of service and religious organizations, alongside shrine administrators and pilgrims.

Hawzah News Agency- In a keynote address, scholar Sayyid Muhammad Sadiq al-Khurasan highlighted the Prophet’s enduring legacy and the role of Imam Ali (peace be upon them) in upholding Islam’s foundations. The ceremony featured elegiac recitations across the shrine courtyard, followed by a mourning gathering led by Sheikh Ahmed al-Rubaie. The occasion officially launched a series of mourning rituals in Holy Najaf.
