Ayatollah Arafi Calls for Seminary's Active Presence in World Science Arena

The Director of Iran’s Seminaries has underscored that representing the seminary and its achievements in the global science market, as well as in Iranian and international academic and elite circles, is a fundamental strategy that must be pursued wholeheartedly and with full force.

Hawzah News Agency- a landmark agreement was signed between the Research Deputy of the Islamic Seminaries and the Islamic World Science Citation and Monitoring Institute (ISC). The deal, aimed at realizing the seminary’s macro-strategies for internationalizing religious scholarship, was facilitated through efforts by the Research Planning and Studies Department and coordination with the Center for Seminary Communication and System.

The agreement sets the stage for utilizing science monitoring capacities, indexing distinguished seminary works, and enhancing the academic standards of the seminary's research output. It is seen as an effective step toward establishing the scientific authority of Islamic seminaries across the Muslim world.

Emphasis on Entering the Global Science Market

Ayatollah Alireza Arafi welcomed the signing as a commendable step and stressed the urgent need for the seminary to establish a foothold in the global production and distribution of science. “Despite all its rich resources, treasures, capacities, and opportunities, the seminary does not have the presence and influence it deserves in the channels of global thought and culture,” he stated. “Comprehensive research and achievements are not sufficiently visible in academic journals, scientific centers, living world languages, or within the evolving realms of science, technology, and virtual space. Fundamentally, we lack the appropriate and mass-scale research output from that perspective.”

Showcasing Seminary Achievements on the World Stage

The Director of the Seminaries further emphasized that showcasing the seminary and its accomplishments in the world science market and within academic and elite communities—both domestically and internationally—constitutes an essential strategy that must be embraced with dedication and full vigor.

A Key Mandate to the Research Deputy

Ayatollah Arafi noted that establishing an effective presence in the global science market requires wisdom, foresight, meticulous design, and road mapping. He assigned the Research Deputy the mission of pursuing this goal in collaboration with other deputies—especially the International Department—as well as frontline institutions and headquarters. He called for pioneering new initiatives and building upon existing efforts through the cooperation of professors, researchers, and frontline academic centers.
