Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi: Zionist Aggression Strengthened National Unity

Qom – Wednesday, August 1 – Senior Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi stated that the recent aggression by the Zionist regime has failed to destabilize Iran and instead reinforced the unity of its people.

Hawzah News Agency- In a meeting with President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in Qom, Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi remarked, “Your face shows that, thank God, you are cheerful,” expressing optimism about the president’s presence and demeanor.

He then addressed the psychological warfare waged by Israel and the United States, saying:

“The enemies believed that by attacking Iran they could sow chaos and disorder. But by the grace of God, not only did this not happen, but the people became even more united.”

Turning to domestic issues, the Grand Ayatollah highlighted the main challenges currently faced by the Iranian people:

  1. High inflation, particularly in food prices
  2. Housing shortages
  3. Unemployment among youth

He urged the administration to prioritize resolving these key issues, expressing hope in the government’s efforts:

“Efforts must be made to solve these problems—and God willing, you will succeed.”

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi also stressed the vital role of charities and public donations in addressing social hardships. He encouraged government support for philanthropic efforts:

“Charitable individuals should be encouraged. We, too, support such initiatives so that, God willing, we can all contribute to easing the people’s difficulties.”

Concluding the meeting, the senior cleric offered prayers for the success of the government officials:

“May God grant you increasing success so that you may overcome these challenges.”
