'Enemy Defeated': Qom Hosts 750,000 Pilgrims for Martyred Imam's Funeral

The Governor of Qom has announced that approximately 750,000 pilgrims were accommodated during the funeral ceremony of the martyred Imam, praising the massive participation of executive bodies and popular forces in hosting the historic event.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking on Saturday, Governor Akbar Behnamjou stated that the faithful and revolutionary people of Qom once again inscribed a golden page in the history of the Islamic Revolution with their fervent turnout.

Blood of Martyred Imam Strengthened National Unity
Behnamjou declared that one of the most significant outcomes of the ceremony was the reinforcement of national unity. He noted this cohesion extended beyond Iran's borders, with clear displays of solidarity emerging across the Islamic world. The governor pointed to the million-strong participation of the Iraqi nation in mourning rituals, stating it demonstrated the deep bond between the regional nations and Iran—a bond rooted in years of mutual support, including Iran's backing of Iraq during the fight against Daesh terrorism.

Enemies Suffered Defeat in Global Public Opinion
The governor asserted that enemies have been defeated in the court of global public opinion, with worldwide hatred growing against the criminals who have exposed their true nature by targeting civilian centers and residential infrastructure. He stressed that rather than weakening the Resistance Front, the blood of the martyred Imam has awakened nations and increased the social capital of the resistance worldwide.

Simultaneous Prayer and Funeral Required Precise Planning
Behnamjou explained that holding the funeral prayer alongside the procession required extensive coordination and redesign of plans within a short timeframe. He acknowledged initial concerns over managing the massive crowds but said comprehensive preparations were made through multiple coordination meetings between executive, security, law enforcement, and service bodies. Popular groups and revolutionary youth also played an effective role in crowd management and maintaining order.

All Institutions Mobilized for Service
The governor commended all executive bodies, highlighting the prominent role of the Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (PBUH) Guards Corps. He stated that all committees and executive agencies worked with a ironclad spirit to serve the pilgrims, with the Governor's Office overseeing coordination and support.

750,000 Pilgrims Accommodated
Behnamjou revealed that roughly 750,000 pilgrims were housed in residential centers, schools, cultural venues, sports halls, Hussainiyas, and other facilities—a figure significantly surpassing even major religious occasions like the mid-Sha'ban celebrations. He noted that most pilgrims arrived by private vehicle, causing an unprecedented surge in traffic on entry routes, though the situation was largely managed through inter-agency coordination. The governor assessed the overall performance of specialized committees as satisfactory.
