Martyred Imam Was the 'Crown of the Seminary,' Says Senior Cleric

In an interview, Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Gharavi, member of Iran's Supreme Council of Seminaries, described the martyred Imam as the "crown of the seminary," stating he always identified as a man of the Hawzah and credited his entire scholarly and personal development to the Islamic seminaries.

Hawzah News Agency- In an interview, Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Gharavi, member of Iran's Supreme Council of Seminaries, described the martyred Imam as the "crown of the seminary," stating he always identified as a man of the Hawza and credited his entire scholarly and personal development to the Islamic seminaries.

A Lifelong Seminarian
"Just as Imam Khomeini was a great fruit of the seminaries, the martyred Imam was also a fruitful product and, in my words, the 'crown of the seminary,'" Ayatollah Gharavi stated. He noted that the leader consistently defined his identity and scientific growth solely through the seminary, reflecting his deep belief in its pivotal role.

Expansive Mission for the Hawza
Ayatollah Gharavi stated the martyred Imam saw a vast mission for the seminaries: to correctly understand divine Islamic teachings, explain them according to the needs of the day, and transmit them in a language comprehensible to modern audiences. This mission extends to the "epistemic defense of religion" against intellectual doubts and deviant currents.

Ethics, Propagation, and Civilization
The senior cleric highlighted that ethics was a central pillar for the martyred leader, who believed moral concepts must be embodied in the behavior and character of the clergy. Furthermore, he viewed all educational and research activities in the seminary as ultimately aimed at the propagation of pure Islam. Ayatollah Gharavi said the Imam viewed the seminary as the foundation for an "Islamic-divine civilization," tasked with producing the software—thought, culture, and Islamic teachings—for this civilizational project, requiring the development of specialized fields and diverse languages.

Steadfast Focus on Islamic Philosophy
Ayatollah Gharavi noted the leader's special emphasis on strengthening Islamic philosophy, describing it as the "language of reason" capable of explaining religious truths even to non-religious audiences and answering ideological challenges.

Maintaining a Revolutionary Seminary
The member of the Supreme Council stated that a key demand of the martyred Imam was maintaining a revolutionary seminary. As the birthplace of the Islamic Revolution, he believed the Hawza must maintain robust ties with the Islamic system, supporting it while responsibly addressing any deviations through dialogue and sincere advice.

Ayatollah Gharavi concluded by stating that the martyred Imam maintained continuous communication with the seminaries, and his messages always reflected a comprehensive outlook, asserting that the system's progress depends on the active intellectual, cultural, and religious role of the Hawza.
