Referring to the impact of the Islamic Revolution on the formation of popular movements in the Islamic world, he noted,” Prior to the revolution, there was no precedent anywhere in the world for a popular movement that was so powerful and had a widespread presence of millions of people throughout the country. The Islamic Revolution gained such power and it forced the Shah of Iran to leave the country despite the support of the United States and Western countries. This event served as a new model for Islamic societies.”
