Top Cleric Receives Head of Iran’s Seminary

The head of Iran’s Seminary Ayatollah Alireza Arafi met with Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sabzevari, one of the prominent professors of Najaf seminary.

Hawzah News Agency- Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, the head of Iran’s Islamic seminaries, met with Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sabzevari, one of the prominent professors of Najaf seminary on Thursday, June 8 in the city of Najaf, Iraq. Ayatollah Sabzevari is the son of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Abdul Ali Sabzevari, one of the deceased Shia sources of emulation of Najaf seminary.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sabzevari, referring to the scientific authorities of his deceased father, pointed out some of the scientific aspects and moral character of his late father, and he emphasized on the importance of clerical dress, ethics, decency, and seminary training among the necessities of today's seminaries.

The professor of Najaf seminary emphasized the priority of education and reform programs of seminaries.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Sabzevari also praised the studies and researches of Iranian seminaries including Qom seminary in jurisprudence, especially contemporary jurisprudence, and pointed to some of his works and researches in the field of Islamic economics and announced his readiness to cooperate in the fields of contemporary jurisprudence.

The professor of Najaf seminary further praised the achievements of Iranian seminaries and emphasized on the response of the seminaries to the scientific needs of the Islamic society; he also added that social activities should not hinder the scientific priority of seminaries.

In this meeting, Ayatollah Arafi, the head of Iran’s seminary, also pointed out some of the achievements and programs of Iranian seminaries, especially the collection of studies of the contemporary jurisprudence office, and presented a series of books produced in this field to Ayatollah Sabzevari.
