Jakarta – An international conference commemorating Martyr Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, attended by senior Iranian and Indonesian officials, has underscored his pivotal role in defending the sanctity of the Holy Quran and the imperative of reviving Islamic civilizational unity.

Hawzah News Agency- According to the public relations office of the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Indonesia, the international memorial gathering was held in Jakarta, attended by Hojatoleslam Dr. Sharifani, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Indonesia; Dr. Boroujerdi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Dr. Yahya Jahangiri, Iran's Cultural Attaché in Indonesia; along with Indonesian religious and cultural officials and a gathering of intellectuals. The conference examined the strategic role of Martyr Raisi in defending the Holy Quran and striving for the civilizational revival of the Muslim world.

Opening the conference, Hojatoleslam Dr. Sharifani, representative of the Office of the Supreme Leader in Indonesia, elaborated on the dimensions of Martyr Raisi's character, pointing to his courageous actions in response to the wave of Quran desecrations in 2023 across certain European countries. He stated, "At a time when the enemies of Islam, backed by certain Western media outlets, were seeking to spread Islamophobia, Martyr Raisi, at the highest international podium—the United Nations General Assembly—held up the Holy Quran and proved that the Word of God cannot be erased by the fire of hatred and enmity."

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mohammad Boroujerdi, Iran's Ambassador to Indonesia, stressed that Martyr Raisi's stance at the United Nations was not a momentary political gesture. "That scene was the manifestation of a lifetime of coexistence, intimacy, and action in accordance with the teachings of the Quran. Having traversed the stages of faith and Quranic understanding, he reached a station where he could capably defend this Heavenly Book," he added.

In another segment of the conference, a senior assistant to Indonesia's Minister of Religious Affairs emphasized the concept of "Islamic Revival," asserting that the Muslim world is in need of a return to authentic values and the strengthening of unity.

Pointing to Iran's achievements in the scientific and civilizational spheres, he called on Islamic countries to benefit from these successful experiences.

The Indonesian official criticized sectarian divisions, declaring, "The era of Shia-Sunni strife must come to an end, and the discourse of Islamic unity must be institutionalized among elites and the younger generation."

He further described modern education and the pursuit of knowledge without borders as the key to the progress of the Islamic Ummah, stressing that Muslims must not fear learning from other beneficial sources.

In their concluding remarks, speakers underlined the necessity of continuing interfaith dialogue for mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence, calling for regular gatherings among religious thinkers to strengthen awareness and unity within the Islamic Ummah.

Participants in the ceremony paid tribute to the memory of the "Martyr of the Nation," vowing to continue his path in elevating Islamic ideals.
