Hawzah News Agency- Delivering the Eid al-Fitr prayer in the revered area between the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Hazrat Abbas (PBUT), Sheikh al-Safi described the attacks as a “brutal and oppressive war.” He issued a fervent appeal to the Muslim world, free nations, and influential international bodies to mobilize all efforts to halt the aggression and stand in solidarity with the two oppressed nations.
“We condemn this oppressive war in the strongest terms,” Sheikh al-Safi declared. “We call upon all Muslims and freedom-loving people of the world to denounce these acts and stand with the oppressed nations of Iran and Lebanon.”
The senior cleric lamented the stark contrast between the joy of Eid and the suffering inflicted on the region. “While we chant the takbir in celebration of God’s blessings, the cries of children echo, the tears of grieving mothers flow, and the flames of fire consume the homes of innocent people in Iran and Lebanon due to the continued military aggression,” he stated.
Sheikh al-Safi emphasized the Islamic duty of compassion and action in the face of escalating tragedy. He noted that Iraq’s supreme religious authority has opened a channel for the distribution of religious tithes (Khums) to alleviate the suffering of the displaced and wounded in Iran and Lebanon, stressing that aid must be channeled through trusted avenues, such as the offices of the supreme religious authority in Iraq, or delivered directly to those in need.
“Faith demands action and solidarity,” he added. “In these dire circumstances, where the catastrophe has widened and the needs of the displaced have increased, it is our religious and humanitarian duty to extend a helping hand to our afflicted brothers.”
Concluding his sermon, Sheikh al-Safi offered prayers for the martyrs defending their land, for the swift recovery of the wounded, and for the freedom of prisoners. “O God, protect the believers wherever they are, ward off calamities from them, and unite their hearts upon the truth,” he prayed. “Be the supporter of our people everywhere and grant them victory over the oppressors.”
