Hawzah News Agency- In a post on the X platform, al-Khalili said the situation demands immediate intervention from the countries involved in the talks, expressing astonishment at their silence and that of the wider international community, including Islamic nations.
He called for urgent action to halt the assault on Gaza and urged “the free people of the world” to continue supporting the Palestinian cause. Remaining silent in the face of such tragedies, he warned, is “shameful”, adding: “How long will this problem persist?”
Since 7 October 2023, Israel — backed by the United States and several European countries — has carried out a genocidal offensive in the Gaza Strip, involving mass killing, starvation, widespread destruction, displacement, and arbitrary arrests, in defiance of international appeals and rulings by the International Court of Justice.
The offensive has left more than 241,000 Palestinians dead or injured, the majority women and children, with over 11,000 people still missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine has killed many, mostly children. Large parts of Gaza have been obliterated, with entire cities and towns reduced to rubble.
