According to figures released by the country's Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, at least 58 people have lost their lives, while more than 12 million individuals have been affected by the unfolding catastrophe. Vast swathes of farmland have been submerged, thousands of homes destroyed, and critical infrastructure severely damaged, compounding an already dire humanitarian situation.
In a statement, the Iranian Embassy in Dhaka expressed deep sympathy and declared its solidarity with the people of Bangladesh, stressing that in light of the urgent needs of affected families, food supplies and essential items have been dispatched without delay.
The relief consignment comprises rice, sugar, safe drinking water, and other vital necessities, distributed with the aim of alleviating the suffering of flood victims and meeting their most immediate basic requirements.
