Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Rohullah Tohidinia, a faculty member of the Political Science Department at the Hawzah and University Research Institute, has penned an analytical note on the matter.
The message of the Leader is that it is no longer permissible to lose even a single moment of the opportunity for resistance, strength-building, and victory over the enemy while awaiting the worthless and invalid signature of the US president.
In his latest message, the Leader of the Revolution stated: "The repeated violations of agreements by the Great Satan regarding the deal signed between the presidents of Iran and the United States have once again proven to everyone the extent to which the signature of the US president is worthless and invalid, and that bullying, totalitarianism, and savagery are inseparable components of the American creed and conduct." On this occasion, we sat down with Hojatoleslam Dr. Rohullah Tohidinia to examine why the Leader places such strong emphasis on exposing the characteristics and actions of the enemy.
The Leader of the Revolution, in his latest message, repeatedly stressed America's renewed violations of agreements. What is the reason behind this?
This constitutes a defense against a segment of the ongoing operation the enemy has consistently been engaged in — a psychological operation targeting society and the elite. Alongside military confrontations, economic sanctions, and international restrictions, the enemy continuously seeks to manipulate the thoughts and minds of the people and decision-makers within the country. It knows the channels and platforms for carrying this out well. One could say it has identified, across the world, the region, and even inside the country, a spectrum of individuals whose intellectual framework — whether willingly or unwittingly — rests on trust in the West, and it constantly strives to keep this spectrum activated. It offers false hopes and hollow promises, suggesting that if you reach an understanding, we seek your prosperity. It insists, repeatedly, that you are highly intelligent and possess great capacity, and that we can live side by side. Some then place their trust in this, viewing the problem as lying with the Islamic Republic of Iran's refusal to accept the global domination of a bullying world power.
Since the dawn of the Islamic Revolution, successive Iranian governments have experienced over fifty key instances of US treaty violations. Each time, senior officials and top figures of the country spent considerable periods engaged in negotiations to resolve the country's problems through reaching an understanding with the enemy, and each time the result was nothing but loss. Regrettably, however, a segment of our expert community, owing to unfamiliarity with Islamic logic and insufficient attention to the requirements of Islamic conduct in dealing with enemies, continues to regard treaties and agreements as a viable path for confronting the enemy.
A portion of the energy expended by the leaders of the Revolution has, fundamentally, been directed toward countering such elements: awakening the nation and keeping it alert, urging officials to avoid repeating such a path, and mounting a form of confrontation with the enemy to make it understand that it cannot normalize its violations of agreements. It is with this perspective that the Leader of the Revolution has once again underscored this matter.
A question that has recently been raised in public discourse and occasionally echoed in the statements of some officials is whether diplomacy and negotiation also constitute a tool, and therefore a tool that cannot be discarded.
I believe that our interpretations and understanding of realities must be grounded in a divine framework. God Almighty has laid down foundations and principles for confronting the enemy. His decrees on how to respond to their aggression, what decision to take in the face of their violations of agreements — these stem from the Creator's knowledge of the fixed characteristics of the enemies of truth, from His awareness of the mindsets and factors that influence the enemy's decision-making. If this conviction existed, tools would become secondary in importance, and, thank God, our officials are mindful of this matter.
The problem arises when, following the division of labor and specialization of affairs — where, for instance, one entity is tasked with communication and negotiation while another is responsible for military confrontation — the first entity begins to imagine it must exhaust all capacities to extinguish the military arena. This requires further reflection. It is necessary to explain, to those engaged in diplomacy, something of the meaning of jihad and military confrontation with the disbelievers from an Islamic perspective. Islam came to revive humanity, revive justice, and revive the rights of the people. It is most sensitive to even the smallest acts of oppression. We witness the highest degree of compassion in the Islamic social outlook. Yet there comes a point when it determines that if you do not destroy the elements of sedition, instead of a thousand being killed, you must brace for the killing of hundreds of thousands. It determines that if you do not endure the hardship of military resistance against the enemy, you must expect decades of humiliation and the loss of all your assets. Therefore, in certain cases, our diplomacy must come to the service of our military forces. And if it does engage in activity, it must contribute to creating a psychological atmosphere aimed at awakening the nations, elites, and leaders of other societies for the victory of the combatants of Islam.
Despite this, why do we still see a mentality of capitulation reflected in some news agencies and media outlets?
When the mother of Moses placed her child in the river, God Almighty told her not to fear or grieve, and that the divine promise is certain. The verses continue by indicating that had faith not been firmly lodged in her heart, she would not have been able to bear the separation and distance from her child, who was now in the house of Pharaoh. In the end, God states that He restored the child to her, so that she might be delighted and know that His promise to return him to her was fulfilled. There are numerous verses of this nature. The point is that under critical circumstances, if that faith and reliance on divine promises are absent and everything is viewed solely through ordinary calculations, these destructive elements will persist in such activities.
Of course, I stress once again that officials of the establishment at all levels do not harbor such thinking. The faith and reliance on God demonstrated by our executive officials have been proven time and again. My point concerns the general public. If certain media outlets or news agencies still dare to propagate among the people a kind of anticipation for securing America's approval, it is because they have an audience. They believe they can exert influence. This is precisely where the jihad of clarification is required. That is, the body of our people and our elite must work tirelessly to elevate the level of faith and insight among the public.
The people must understand that whoever truly desires the genuine and lasting prosperity and welfare of the Iranian nation will no longer squander the opportunity for resistance and strength-building while waiting for the worthless and invalid signature of the US president. They must demonstrate that they have chosen the path of resistance — a theme that shone clearly in the Leader's message.
