Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Gholamali Safaei Bushehri, the representative of Iran’s Leader in Bushehr Province, addressed a commemoration ceremony for the Martyr Leader of the Revolution at the University of Medical Sciences today. Speaking before university chancellors, professors, and students, he expounded on the strategic role of the Martyr Leader in shaping the components of national power.
"The Martyr Leader of the Revolution, with a civilization-oriented and far-sighted vision, regarded science and technology as one of the foremost pillars for the sustainable generation of national authority," Safaei stated. "By advancing the idea of the software movement, the scientific production campaign, and backing knowledge-based enterprises, he paved the way for the nation's scientific independence."
The Friday Prayer leader of Bushehr emphasized that the personality of the Martyr Leader demands deep and extensive research across various dimensions. "My understanding of his eminence, forged through years of association and presence in various sessions, is that the horizon of his thought perpetually lay hundreds of years ahead of his time. This is why many issues emerging today as strategic concerns for Iran and the world were matters he focused on and advocated for years ago."
Recounting a memory from the official inauguration of the Bushehr nuclear power plant, Safaei added: "Following the plant's final launch, a private session was held with Iranian officials and the Russian delegation present. In that meeting, I spoke about the Martyr Leader's role in forming the software movement and generating scientific power within the Islamic Republic of Iran. I stressed that his eminence was the flagbearer of liberating science from the clutches of scientific imperialism."
The representative of the Leader continued: "In that very session, the Russian side, a prominent Russian nuclear scientist, stated that the esteemed Leader, Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, is the standard-bearer for the freedom of science from scientific imperialism. It was raised that science is a divine gift for all humanity, recognizing no geographical, ethnic, or racial boundaries. Yet, from the dawn of history, hegemonic powers have sought to monopolize science, turning it into a tool for generating power and wealth."
Pointing to the dominance of global powers over the realm of knowledge and technology, he noted: "Today, global capitalism and the system of arrogance seize scientists, inventions, and modern technologies to augment their political, economic, and military power. Should any country pursue a path of scientific independence, it faces the harshest pressures and restrictions."
Hojatoleslam Safaei Bushehri asserted that science, by its very nature, is a key driver of human excellence. "No thinker, no society, deems ignorance a factor for progress. All believe that science, knowledge, and technology are the most critical components for generating power. Any society pioneering in this arena will enjoy greater authority."
He added: "Throughout history, power-holders have consistently sought to keep scientists at their side, knowing full well that real power traverses the path of science. This same outlook is pursued today across various fields, including nuclear technology, nano, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, stem cells, and defense industries."
The Imam of Friday prayers in Bushehr emphasized: "What is termed scientific imperialism today is an undeniable reality. Great powers strive to control the path of scientific production globally through both hard and soft means. If a nation moves toward scientific independence, it confronts sanctions, pressure, and even the physical elimination of its scientists."
Referencing the Martyr Leader's deep understanding of this global trend, he stated: "From the very early years of his leadership, his eminence placed the strategy of generating diverse components of power on the agenda, one of the most vital being the production of strategic scientific and technological power."
Safaei continued: "The emphasis on the software movement, the scientific production campaign, support for universities, strengthening research, developing science and technology parks, backing knowledge-based companies, attention to elites, scientific Olympiads, and the training of specialized human resources—all were parts of a cohesive intellectual system aimed at achieving Iran's scientific authority."
Quoting the Martyr Leader on science's role in national authority, he said: "His eminence consistently stressed that if the Islamic Republic seeks power and influence in global equations and a significant, effective share in the future world order, it must rank among the world's top nations in science and technology. Hence, achieving the first scientific rank in the region and elevating Iran's global standing was presented as a strategic objective."
The representative of the Leader in Bushehr added: "Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran's advances in various fields—nuclear technology, defense industries, nano, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, and other advanced technologies—are the fruits of that very strategic vision of the Leader of the Revolution. Had officials of the time implemented the strategic guidance of our Martyr Leader, Iran's scientific growth would have far surpassed the current conditions."
He stated: "The enemies of the Islamic Republic fully grasped that one of the main pillars generating Iran's power is its scientific and technological progress. They therefore attempted, through the nuclear dossier, political pressure, sanctions, and even raising issues like limiting missile capability, to halt this trajectory. Yet, the Martyr Leader of the Revolution did not permit this strategy to succeed."
Hojatoleslam Safaei Bushehri, noting Iran's civilizational background in science, remarked: "Historically, Iran has been a primary center of scientific production globally. Scientists like Avicenna, Al-Biruni, and other luminaries laid the foundations of scientific civilization. However, in later eras, particularly the Qajar and Pahlavi periods, the nation strayed from the path of scientific production, becoming a consumer of others' knowledge."
He continued: "The Martyr Leader of the Revolution, reviving the spirit of 'We Can,' altered this trajectory, reigniting national self-confidence among the country's scientists, professors, researchers, and youth—an event that paved the way for the formation of a new scientific movement and the glorious revival of scientific civilization in the Islamic Republic."
In another segment of his address, the Friday Prayer leader of Bushehr pointed to the ethical characteristics and lifestyle of the Martyr Leader: "Among his eminence's most prominent traits were simple living, a deep connection with the people, and abstention from personal use of public resources."
He added: "The Martyr Leader consistently maintained a very simple life, used domestically produced goods, emphasized the consumption of Iranian products, and never permitted his position of leadership to become a tool for personal benefit."
Safaei stated: "The Martyr Leader spent himself for the people, the Revolution, Islam, and Iran, and never, not even slightly, expended Islam and the system for his own sake. This very sincerity, humility, simplicity, and dedication to the dignity of the Iranian nation earned him unparalleled popularity among the Iranian people, many Muslim nations, and the free people of the world."
He noted: "The magnificent funeral procession for the Martyr Leader was a manifestation of this profound bond between the people and their Leader, astonishing many foreign analysts with the grandeur of this popular turnout."
In conclusion, the representative of the Leader in Bushehr stressed the necessity of continuing the scientific path charted by the Martyr Leader. "Our esteemed and great Leader, Ayatollah Imam Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, possesses that same spirit and approach of strategically elevating science and technology, insisting on serious and fundamental attention to this path. With a civilizational outlook, he sees the Islamic Republic's future resting on several fundamental pillars, chief among them being science, technology, self-belief, and independence in this field. Today, it is the duty of all officials, academics, and elites to persist on this path towards the realization of a modern Islamic civilization and the elevation of Iran's scientific standing in the world."
