Al-Mustafa and Alauddin Islamic Universities Hold High-Level Cooperation Meeting

The President of Alauddin Islamic University has hosted a senior Iranian delegation led by Hojatoleslam Abbasi, President of Al-Mustafa International University, in a meeting aimed at bolstering scientific and academic cooperation between the two prominent institutions of Islamic higher education.

Hawzah News Agency- Hojatoleslam Abbasi expressed his satisfaction with visiting Alauddin Islamic University, noting that this trip marks his third visit to Indonesia and represents a significant opportunity to deepen academic cooperation among Islamic universities. He voiced hope that educational and scientific relations between Iran and Indonesia would continue to expand.

Introducing the activities of Al-Mustafa International University, Abbasi described it as a major global center for Islamic higher education dedicated to training students from across the world. He highlighted that 97 to 98 percent of the university’s student body comes from more than 120 countries, studying across roughly 150 academic fields. These programs span Islamic sciences, humanities with an Islamic perspective, and language and cultural studies—offering instruction in 21 living languages, including Malay (Indonesian).

Responding to Alauddin University’s interest in advancing cooperation in science and technology, Hojatoleslam Abbasi affirmed Al-Mustafa University’s readiness to serve as a strategic bridge linking the Indonesian institution with specialized universities in Iran. “We are fully prepared to act as a mediator and facilitator between Alauddin State Islamic University of Makassar and other academic centers in Iran,” he said.

For his part, Professor Hamdan Johannis, President of Alauddin Islamic University of Makassar, reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to strengthening previously established ties. He praised the “positive and constructive” relationship between the two universities.

Johannis further revealed that Alauddin University has already designed a structured program to dispatch faculty members to short-term academic courses in Iran, with the initial list of participants finalized. He said the initiative reflects the university’s serious intention to broaden scientific engagement in fields such as Islamic studies, philosophy, medicine, and technology.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the next steps for cooperation, including the preparation of a memorandum of understanding to launch a faculty exchange program and joint research projects between the two universities.
