Hawzah News Agency- The visit, hosted at the Melal Portico of the shrine, brought together eight Uzbek professors alongside faculty members from Imam Reza International University (IRIU). The program was organized under the auspices of AQR’s Office for Non-Iranian Pilgrims’ Affairs.
During the visit, the delegation toured significant parts of the shrine complex, including the Qur’an Museum, the historic courtyards of Goharshad, Enghelab Eslami, and Azadi, and the central library, where they viewed a selection of notable books. The guests were also honored during a gift presentation ceremony and hosted at the Ghadir Guesthouse.
A key highlight of the meeting was the announcement of the establishment of a second Persian-language teaching center in Samarkand, Uzbekistan — a move aimed at expanding Persian language education and deepening cultural relations across Central Asia.
Speaking at the event, Mehdi Lesani emphasized the deep-rooted connection between the people of Central Asia and the Imam Reza shrine, stating:
“Uzbek Muslims deeply revere Amir Ali-Shir Nava'i, a renowned Timurid-era scholar and statesman. There are rich cultural and architectural links between the Timurid legacy and the Imam Reza Shrine.”
The visit marked a further step in enhancing cultural diplomacy and linguistic ties between Iran and Uzbekistan, reinforcing mutual appreciation for Persian heritage and regional cooperation in education and religious tourism.
