Isfahan Seminary Director Warns of Enemy Deception Following Ceasefire

The representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Isfahan Province has warned against complacency following ceasefire proposals, stressing that enemies often shift tactics from military aggression to psychological and economic warfare once they are defeated on the battlefield.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a gathering of seminary school directors and deputies from the Isfahan Seminary Management Center, Ayatollah Seyyed Yousef Tabatabaei Nejad emphasized the importance of vigilance and continued strength in the face of evolving threats. His remarks came in the wake of the recent 12-day war involving the United States and the Zionist regime.

“Throughout history, divine traditions have shown that a group of faithful believers must always rise to resist corruption and oppression,” he said. “The Holy Quran reminds us that if it were not for the defense mounted by the believers, all places of worship would have been destroyed.”

Ayatollah Tabatabaei Nejad, who also serves as the Friday Prayer Leader of Isfahan, described the Zionist regime as "the most criminal in history," asserting that even the Pharaohs of ancient times did not violate women and children to the extent witnessed in Gaza today.

He strongly criticized the role of other Islamic countries in the ongoing crisis, particularly Egypt. “The Sinai Desert belongs to Egypt, yet they do not allow the entry of food, water, or medicine to the besieged people of Gaza—people who share their language and faith—simply because America forbids it,” he stated. “Trump was right to call them milch cows and loan animals.”

Referring to Iran’s track record during the eight-year Sacred Defense against Iraq, Ayatollah Tabatabaei Nejad highlighted the country’s ability to protect its territory despite limited resources. “Today, our advanced military and technological capabilities have enabled us to strike the enemy hard—most notably in the successful attack on the U.S. base in Qatar, which prompted their request for a ceasefire,” he said.

He emphasized that Iran’s sovereignty and decision-making remain firmly in Iranian hands, guided solely by divine principles. “God’s command is to always be prepared with the best means of defense,” he said.

Addressing the question of why Iran agreed to a ceasefire, he explained: “We are not permitted to initiate war without provocation. If the enemy retreats, we do not pursue. Our military actions are purely defensive.”

Quoting from Imam Ali’s (AS) letter to Malik Ashtar in Nahj al-Balagha, he reiterated the Islamic directive to cautiously accept peace offers. “If your enemy proposes peace, do not reject it. But remain vigilant—sometimes they speak kindly to deceive and catch you off guard.”

He concluded by cautioning that the enemy, defeated in open conflict, is now focused on economic pressure and psychological manipulation. “Our duty is to remain vigilant, build our defensive capabilities, and expose their deceit wherever it may appear.”
