Hawzah News Agency -In an interview with Hawzah News, Hujjat al-Islam Mohammad Ostovar Meimandi, head of the Social and Political Affairs Office of the Seminaries, analyzed the indirect talks between Iran and the US in Oman. Referring to the fixed principles of the Islamic Republic’s system, he said, “What is certain is that the policy of the Islamic Republic is based on principles such as respect for dignity, independence, rejection of oppression, and attention to national interests and the Islamic Ummah. These principles cannot be violated or changed.”
Pointing out the variability of political decisions according to circumstances, he added, “In the political world, at one point the country’s interests require a decision to be made, and at another, a different decision may be made based on new circumstances. What is important is to preserve those fixed principles in all decision-making.”
Analyzing America's goals in the negotiations, he added, "The Americans are not looking for mutual understanding nor compromise. What they want is to impose their demands in two ways: first, deceiving global public opinion by claiming that Iran is not willing to negotiate, second, Intimidating the other side and influencing the decision-making structure, which, thanks to the Supreme Leader's wisdom, this time too, they failed in these two sinister plans."
