Imam Khamenei appoints a new member of Guardian Council

Following the resignation of Ayatollah Yazdi from the Council of Guardians due to his age and health issues, Imam Khamenei appointed Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sayyid Ahmad Khatami in a decree to be a member of the Council of Guardians.

Hawzah News Agency - (Tehran - Iran) - Following the resignation of Ayatollah Yazdi from the Council of Guardians due to his age and health issues, Imam Khamenei appointed Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sayyid Ahmad Khatami in a decree to be a member of the Council of Guardians.

The following is the full text of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s decree:

In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Your excellency, Hujjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Mr. Sayyid Ahmad Khatami (may your success continue).

Considering the fact that His Excellency Ayatollah Haj Shaykh Muhammad Yazdi (may he have a long life) has resigned from the Council of Guardians due to health issues and old age, after years of valuable service in holding different responsibilities in the Islamic Republic, and serving as a member of the Council of Guardians for many years, while thanking him, I appoint you as a member of the Council of Guardians and ask God the Almighty for the continued success of all the Council members and yourself.
