Hawzah News Agency- as millions prepare to take part in the funeral procession for Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iraqi Shias are readying themselves to offer a magnificent welcome to the body of the late Leader and supreme religious authority.
Various segments of Iraqi society—including Shias, tribal leaders, clerics, eulogists, prominent national figures, and resistance groups—have declared their readiness to attend the grand procession.
The solemn ceremony carries significant messages for both friends and foes of the Iraqi nation. In this context, Iraqi writer Mohammed Sadiq al-Hashemi has penned a memorandum, the text of which follows:
The free people of Iraq will take part in the funeral and offer their condolences to the family of the martyred Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, with all their strength, demographic weight, and steadfast conviction. The most salient meanings of this funeral in Iraq are as follows:
1. Throughout history, the Shia of Iraq have always been pioneers in offering support, waging struggle, and taking honorable stances. At this fateful juncture in the phase of resistance, they will undoubtedly be pioneers once more through conscious participation. This is the least we can do out of loyalty to our faith and in protest against America's great crime against the religious authorities—a blatant crime against the seminaries and the Marja’iyyah, which must be answered by a resounding cry of condemnation from the Shia. The Iraqi nation bears responsibility for this sincere outcry.
2. The massive funeral by Iraqi Shias signifies loyalty to the Islamic Revolution, to the line of the Prophet's Household (PBUT), to the grand religious authorities, and to the Islamic seminaries. This widespread presence also demonstrates that Shias possess the awareness, insight, and readiness to defend their faith, their religious leadership, their political process, and their constitutional rights against aggression. Moreover, participation in these rites amounts to support for the Islamic Revolution—a revolution that defends Muslims in general and struggles for religion and values against the aggression of the faithless.
3. The mass funeral means the Shia nation is sending its message to America: a message condemning their actions, rejecting their arrogant spirit, and denouncing their crime. Most importantly, through this presence, the Iraqi people declare their opposition to occupation and demand national sovereignty and independence.
The funeral will also provide the Iraqi people a significant opportunity to condemn the crimes committed by Britain and America against Iraq's Shias throughout the 20th century and beyond, as well as the crimes of the Zionist regime against the heroes of Hashd al-Sha'abi and other free sons of this land.
4. The massive funeral means that Iraq's Shias, with full awareness and a broad, sincere presence, are registering their participation in the decisive battle and proving their vigilance, power, and readiness in the face of any aggression from the international and regional environment.
5. The mass funeral dissolves geographical borders, turning the Shia Ummah into a single nation under a single banner. This is especially significant as the enemy seeks to fragment and disintegrate us so that destroying our community and power becomes easier. But we are all in a single boat—the boat of dignity and the defense of Islam.
