Ayatollah Yaqubi Urges Immediate Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Prominent Iraqi scholar Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Yaqubi has issued a powerful call for urgent food and medical assistance to the besieged people of Gaza, warning of a worsening humanitarian catastrophe and urging regional governments to act swiftly.

Hawzah News Agency- In a statement issued from Najaf, Ayatollah Yaqubi described the images of famine and suffering emerging from Gaza as “heart-wrenching,” saying they would move even “the hardest stone” to grief. He warned that silence in the face of such human tragedy is unacceptable, especially for those guided by faith and conscience.

Quoting Nahj al-Balagha, Ayatollah Yaqubi recalled the reaction of Imam Ali (AS) to a much smaller injustice in history, when a non-Muslim woman was attacked under Muslim protection. “If a Muslim dies of grief after hearing about this, he would not be blamed,” Imam Ali said. The scholar emphasized, “So how can believers remain silent now, in the face of this massive human suffering?”

Calling on the Iraqi government to engage the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the swift entry of aid into Gaza, Ayatollah Yaqubi stressed the need for immediate action to save lives. He also praised the Iraqi people’s willingness to support their Palestinian brothers, encouraging continued efforts to send vital supplies.

“The Iraqi nation is ready to do its utmost to stand by the people of Gaza,” the statement said, invoking two Quranic verses as a reminder of divine reward for good deeds: “God is with you, and He never wastes the reward of your deeds” (Surah Muhammad: 35) and “Whatever good you send forth for yourselves, you will find it better with Allah and greater in reward” (Al-Muzzammil: 20).

The statement concluded with a renewed call for Islamic nations to take serious and coordinated humanitarian action, warning that time is running out for those suffering under siege.
