Conclusion of the Preliminary Round of Brunei's National Youth Quran Competition

30 participants in the Brunei Youth Quran Recitation Preliminary Round (May 14-16) have advanced to the semi-finals.

Hawzah News Agency- A total of 93 youth, comprising 66 qari and 27 qariah, participated in this year’s qualifying round.

The participants also attended a two-day Program Kemahiran Al-Quran (KIA) focusing on instilling knowledge on Al-Quran recitation, such as emphasising various aspects and skills related to melody, voice, fasahah and tajwid, needed to compete in the competition.

Out of the 93 participants, the top 30 youth who scored higher than 80 per cent qualified to compete in the semi-finals on May 25. The top five youth from this year’s qualifying round are selected to advance to the finals alongside qari and qariah winners from last year’s competition on June 19.

The competition is organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei as an annual event to nurture and develop young reciters who are capable of competing nationally and internationally in Quran recitation.
