Answering a doubt about prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Can someone who has had multiple wars, someone who has had multiple wives, be introduced as a role model for humanity?

Hawzah News Agency - Rachid, the Evangelist Christian and ex-Muslim from Morocco raised a doubt about Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). He says that the prophet of Islam had many wars. He had many wives. He married a nine-year-old girl (Aisha); therefore such a person cannot be introduced as a role model. On the other side, there are no reports of wars during the time of prophet Jesus (pbuh). Therefore, the one who can be introduced as a role model is prophet Jesus (pbuh), not prophet Muhammad (pbuh)!!!

The international unit of the Hawzah News Agency responds to this claim as follows:

Regarding the wars of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):

Reasons for the Prophet's Wars:

  • Violation of treaties and pacts by the polytheists
  • Military movements by the polytheists
  • Defense of Islam

Therefore, in reality, the Prophet of God was never the initiator of any war.

Next Point

Before the commencement of any war, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) invited the polytheists to the religion of God. This indicates that even amidst the aforementioned circumstances, the Prophet of Mercy did not seek war and bloodshed. Wherever there was the possibility of avoiding war, the Prophet accepted it, as exemplified by the "Treaty of Hudaybiyyah".

Even some orientalists acknowledge and confess this truth.

Another Point

The observance of the rights of humans, animals, and nature was among the principles observed in the Prophet's wars. This means that even when the Prophet of Mercy was compelled to engage in war, he had set limitations and boundaries for it. Instances include preventing the killing of children, women, and the elderly, as well as forbidding the cutting down of trees, etc.

An Interesting Point

The issues mentioned have no place in the wars that have occurred throughout history, especially regarding the critical contemporary issue of Palestine. Interestingly, many of those who criticize Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while exonerating Prophet Jesus (PBUH) have, today, proudly remained silent in the face of the brutal crimes committed by Israel and have even supported them!

Jihad in the Way of God

In Islam, war should solely be for the sake of God, not for personal gain. This contrasts with wars throughout history that have just been done to achieve personal interests and have produced nothing but killing, bloodshed, and genocide. The mercy and wrath of the Prophet of God were all for the sake of God.

Question

Why are there no reports of wars during the time of Prophet Jesus (PBUH)?

Answer

To answer this question, let's pose another question:

Why are there no reports of wars during the 13 years of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) presence in Mecca?

Any answer provided for this question can also be applied to Prophet Jesus (PBUH). The reason is the “lack of conducive conditions”. Therefore, the absence of war reports during the time of Prophet Jesus (PBUH) also stems from the unavailability of conditions that would permit waging war against the enemies of God and His Prophet. Otherwise, just as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stood against the polytheists after he migrated to Medina and gained power, Prophet Jesus (PBUH) would have stood against the tyrants and polytheists of his time. It is evident that to spread the religion revealed to the Prophet of God, power and governance are necessary; otherwise, the implementation of divine laws on earth would be impossible.

Please pay attention to these interesting passages from the Gospel:

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Matthew chapter 10: 34

Elsewhere we read:

“And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.” Matthew chapter 10: 38

An Interesting Point in this Passage

What does it mean to take up the cross and accompany the Prophet of God?

Isn't it the case that anyone who wishes to walk alongside the Prophet of God must understand that there are many obstacles along this path, including the opposition of tyrants and polytheists against the religion and the Prophet of God? Therefore, one must always be prepared to stand firm and confront these tyrants; otherwise, the establishment of God's religion—which is the mission of the divine Prophet—will never be possible, and this is a very obvious matter.

Additionally, there are other passages in the sacred texts...

Thus, the reason no wars were reported during the time of Prophet Jesus (PBUH) is due to the unavailability of conducive conditions. The best evidence for this claim is that the conditions were so constricted and difficult for this Prophet of God that the tyrants of the time sought to kill this divine messenger. Therefore, comparing these two divine prophets (Prophet Muhammad and Prophet Jesus) in terms of war is a result of a lack of understanding.

In this section, we will suffice with this amount.

Regarding the marriages of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

At first, one might understand the motivations of those who use this issue to question the Prophet of Mercy (PBUH), as in their view, the concept of life is nothing more than the gratification of desires and base instincts. Thus, their minds, hearts, and souls are unable to comprehend many truths.

The overarching reason for Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) marriages was the presence of some wisdom required for fulfilling his divine mission. If his goal had been indulgence and following desires, he would have chosen beautiful young women as his wives, like kings, powerful figures, and the wealthy throughout history, rather than older and widowed women.

Some Western thinkers also acknowledge that Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) marriages were not about sensuality or following whims but should be sought for the lofty purposes and promotional, Islamic, and humanitarian objectives of this Prophet of Mercy.

Important Point

To judge any religion, one must refer to the documents of that religion.

God says in the Quran about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH):

«وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَی؛ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَی.»

“Nor does he speak out of [his own] desire; it is just a revelation that is revealed [to him]” (Najm; v. 3,4)

Given this verse, the words that come from the Prophet are divine revelation, let alone his actions; marriage is also an action. Therefore, when the Prophet's words are revelation and come from God, how can his actions be contrary to God's will?

Please refer to the following verse:"

“When you said to him whom Allah had blessed, and whom you [too] had blessed, ‘Retain your wife for yourself, and be wary of Allah,’ and you had hidden in your heart what Allah was to divulge, and you feared the people though Allah is worthier that you should fear Him, so when Zayd had got through with her, We wedded her to you, so that there may be no blame on the faithful in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have got through with them, and Allah’s command is bound to be fulfilled.” (Ahzab; v. 37)

"As you can see, it is God who brings 'Zaynab' into marriage with His Prophet and tells him: ‘We wedded her to you, so that there may be no blame on the faithful in respect of the wives of their adopted sons, when the latter have got through with them.’

Therefore, as previously mentioned, the marriages of the Prophet (PBUH) were not based on desires and whims but were in line with fulfilling the divine missions.

The other marriages of the Prophet also had similar divine wisdom. To avoid prolonging the discussion, we invite everyone to investigate further.

Last Question

Did the Prophet marry a nine-year-old girl (Aisha)?

To answer this question, many hadiths must be examined to reach a satisfactory conclusion, as this claim has been made by Sunni Muslims, and Shia does not accept it.

Upon reviewing the evidence presented by Sunni Muslims and the narratives they cite, we encounter numerous contradictions in their reports that can never substantiate the number “nine”. What emerges from the hadiths they rely on is that Aisha was approximately 20 years old at the time of her marriage to the Messenger of God (PBUH).

In this section, we also invite everyone to investigate further.

Therefore, the raised doubt is solely based on ignorance and lack of awareness.
