The ceremony commemorating the martyrdom of President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and his companions was held at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the city of Najaf with the participation of the representative of the Supreme Leader in Iraq and Iranian institutions based in Najaf Ashraf.

Hawzah News Agency- the commemoration ceremony of Iranian President Hujjat al-Islam Raisi and his martyred companions, was held on Saturday, May 25, in the presence of Ayatollah Seyyed Mujtaba Hosseini, the representative of the Supreme Leader in Iraq, Hujjat al-Islam Seyyed Ali Khomeini and representatives of Iranian institutions located in Najaf Ashraf, at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic Iran in Najaf.

In this ceremony, Seyyed Ali Khomeini, while commemorating the martyrs of the helicopter crash, said,” The system of the Islamic Republic has reached such a level of authority that the martyrdom of the president does not create the slightest disruption or instability in the affairs of the country and its people.”

“This does not mean to deny the influence of the president, rather it shows that the system of the Islamic Republic, as a dynamic and active system, is absolutely strong and powerful, and the departure of an official does not create a gap in the nation's iron ranks. The late Imam Khomeini (RA) has said in his will that when an official leaves, there will be no disruption in the iron ranks of the nation.” He added.

On May 19, a helicopter carrying the Iranian president crashed in Iran's Eastern Azerbaijan Province. Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malek Rahmati, and Tabriz Imam Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem were also on board the helicopter. Iranian Red Crescent Society head Pir Hossein Koulivand said that all passengers and crew of the helicopter were killed in the crash. A commission has been created to investigate the causes of the disaster. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber became the acting President of Iran. Early presidential elections are scheduled for June 28.
