Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian referred to the illegal presence of US forces in Syria, as well as the Israeli attacks on the country, as disturbing the political settlement process in Syria.

Hawzah News Agency –Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir Otto Pedersen.

Appreciating Pedersen for helping establish national dialogue, peace and stability in Syria, he emphasized Iran’s efforts for his success in this regard.

Elaborating on Iran's approach to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis since the beginning of the developments in Syria, he described the United Nations as part of pursuing a political solution in Syria.

He urged the international community and the United Nations to pay attention to it.

The crisis in this country cannot be led in the right direction without paying attention to the issue of refugees and the sanctions imposed on Syria.

Meanwhile, Pederson termed the current situation in Syria as stable, saying no party is now talking about regime change in this country.

He underlined preserving national sovereignty, political establishment and territorial integrity of Syria.
