Malek National Museum Hosts Ashura Rituals to Connect Younger Generation with Karbala Legacy

As the lunar month of Muharram commences, Tehran's Malek National Museum and Library has opened its doors to a specialized cultural and religious program aimed at linking the younger generation to the enduring heritage of Ashura and the Household of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon them).

Hawzah News Agency- The event, titled "Heiat-e Behesht"—a children and adolescent-exclusive religious gathering—seeks to blend cultural capacities with the teachings of the Ashura uprising, strengthening the bond between the next generation and the values of the Ahl al-Bayt.

During the ceremony, the "Abna al-Hassan" choir performed devotional pieces, creating a spiritual atmosphere befitting the solemnity of Muharram. Dr. Azizi, a specialist in child, adolescent, and family affairs, addressed the gathering, expounding on the educational, cultural, and social dimensions of the Ashura movement and stressing the imperative of transmitting its concepts and values to children and teenagers.

The program also featured elegies and lamentations in mourning for Imam Hussein (PBUH), the Master of Martyrs, performed by adolescent mourners, lending a deeply spiritual tone to the cultural assembly.

Seyyed Amir Hossein Sadati, deputy for social and cultural affairs of Tehran's District 12, underscored the role of cultural centers in relaying religious concepts to the new generation.

"Museums are not merely repositories of historical artifacts; they serve as suitable platforms for narrating identity, culture, and religious values," Sadati said. "Holding Ashura programs in such spaces provides a valuable opportunity for children and adolescents to become acquainted with the timeless messages of Imam Hussein's movement in a format suited to the needs of today's generation."

He added that District 12 is pursuing the development of identity-oriented and religious programs by harnessing the capacity of cultural and historical centers, with the goal of bolstering the social and cultural capital of the future generation.

The six-day special program, running at the Malek National Museum and Library, welcomes children, adolescents, and families with the participation of prominent speakers and eulogists of the Ahl al-Bayt (PBUT).
