Lady Fatima’s Eminence as Reflected in the Words of the Prophet (PBUH)

A narration reported from Lady Fatimah Zahra (PBUH) highlights the profound bond between her and the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), underscoring her unique spiritual and familial status within the Muslim community.

Hawzah News Agency- According to the narration, when the Qur’anic verse “Make not the calling of the Messenger among you as your calling one of another” (Surah al-Nur, 63) was revealed, Lady Fatima (PBUH) became concerned that addressing the Prophet (PBUH) as “father” might no longer be appropriate. Out of deep respect for the divine command, she refrained from using the term.

Observing her hesitation, the Prophet (PBUH) turned to her and clarified the matter, stating:

“My daughter, this verse is not directed at you, your family, or your descendants. You are from me, and I am from you. This command is for the arrogant and self-centered among Quraysh. Call me ‘father,’ for this is more beloved to me and more pleasing to God.”

The narration is widely cited by scholars to demonstrate the unique spiritual station of Lady Fatima (PBUH), her exemplary reverence for divine revelation, and the Prophet’s (PBUH) explicit affirmation of her elevated position.
