Hawzah News Agency - (Kabul - Afghanistan) - Former President, Hamid Karzai called Ashura (Moharram 10th) a day to mark Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions’ sacrifices.

In a statement issued on the occasion of Ashura, Karzai said Imam Hussain (A.S) and his faithful companions stood against oppression and tyranny.

He said that Imam Hussain’s (A.S) sacrifices could be inspiration for all freedom-seekers.

The former president also said that Ashura is the symbol of unity and solidarity for the people of Afghanistan, calling on the Afghans to stand together against the enemies’ conspiracies.

Karzai hoped that next year’s Ashura to be commemorated in a peaceful space in Afghanistan.
