Iran’s ground forces: A solid wall along the border

Unlike the 12-Day War, this war will not be limited to the use of missile forces, air power, and air defense. A reliable pillar in this regional battle will be the ground forces of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IRGC.

Hawzah News Agency- In the article, “Rapid, full-scale, regional'', the broader plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran for managing a potential upcoming regional confrontation was discussed. It was noted that although Iran defines its overarching strategy as defensive, in implementing this strategy it will not be limited to defensive tactics alone. Rather, a significant and substantial portion of its tactics have been designed as offensive in nature. A strike for a strike; pain for pain; wound for wound.

Importantly, these offensive tactics—unlike the 12-Day War—will not be confined merely to targets located 1,200 to 1,600 kilometers from Iran’s borders within the occupied territories. This time, much closer targets will also come under attack.

In managing the potential confrontation ahead, each of the various military forces of the Islamic Republic operates within a comprehensive military and security architecture, with clearly defined missions. This plan seeks to defend Iran’s territorial, air, and maritime integrity within the framework of a regional conflict.

Unlike the 12-Day War, this plan will not be limited to the use of missile forces, air power, and air defense. A reliable pillar in this regional battle will be the ground forces of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The operational planning and combat readiness of these forces have been arranged in such a way that each can independently carry out its assigned missions within its designated area of responsibility, even without direct higher command oversight and in accordance with issued directives.

Protecting the border wall—particularly in the southern, southeastern, and western regions of the country—constitutes a key part of these missions. These are areas that, during the unrest in the month of Dey, were targeted by militant groups and their Zionist and American backers, but failed due to the vigilance of the country’s security and military apparatus. The ground forces of the Army and the IRGC will first establish a secure barrier on the ground to confront any attempt at infiltration—whether by foreign-backed proxy elements or by foreign forces themselves—with a solid structure, resembling the Quranic term, bunyanun marsus, at the very border line (Holy Quran 61:4). Of course, this will not necessarily be limited to actions on this side of the border.

The Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic will not allow the security perimeter of Iran’s borders to be compromised, even if opposing forces do not outwardly violate the border wall.

Another important point is that the plans and programs of the ground forces are not confined to traditional past measures focused solely within Iran’s geography. In line with the concept of offensive defense, these forces also keep an eye on offensive ideas—ideas whose contours and execution will become apparent to observers in the event of conflict.

To implement this strategy, all necessary measures have been taken, orders and directives have been issued, and operational units—with prior preparation—are in full combat readiness. In a sense, one could say that the sons of Iran in these regions stand alert, eyes open and fingers on the trigger, ready to defend the essence of Islamic Iran against any ill intent.

The recent exercise of the Ground Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the southern regions of the country—extending even to some islands in the Persian Gulf—can be understood within this framework. It signals that Iran’s defenders have not been content with planning alone but are also rehearsing parts of their potential operational plans in real conditions on the ground.

It is a drill to break the legs of any aggressor or foreign proxy harboring ill intentions toward the sacred soil of this land. A drill to establish a strong and secure fortress on the ground for the Iranian nation and for those branches of the armed forces tasked with carrying out offensive missions against regional target banks from the sacred soil of Iran. A drill to demonstrate the resolve to safeguard a unified and beloved Islamic Iran.
