Qom Officials Announce World Quds Day Rally, Call for Strong Youth Mobilization

QOM – The head of the Qom branch of the Islamic Development Coordination Council has announced that this year’s World Quds Day rally will be held on Friday, March 13, underscoring the need for heightened cultural and explanatory efforts in light of ongoing regional developments.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a provincial council meeting, Hojatoleslam Mohammad-Hassan Zakeri-Raouf stressed that recent events in the region and hostile attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause require broader public engagement, particularly among teenagers and families.

World Quds Day, initiated in 1979 by Imam Khomeini, is observed annually on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.

Zakeri-Raouf emphasized the importance of facilitating large-scale participation in both the rally and the congregational prayers that follow. He said adequate logistical arrangements must be ensured so that no participant is prevented from attending the prayers due to lack of facilities.

He called for the formation of a dedicated prayer coordination committee under the supervision of Qom’s Friday Prayer Headquarters to address shortcomings observed in previous years. These include carpeting surrounding routes near the Mosalla, deploying additional mobile restrooms and ablution units, strengthening sound systems along adjacent streets, and coordinating municipal service forces more effectively.

Officials at the meeting also stressed the need to activate mosques located along the rally routes and to enhance coordination among the municipality, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Red Crescent Society, and other service and security bodies within the executive committee framework.

Participants further proposed symbolic reconstructions depicting scenes from Gaza along sections of the march route to raise awareness about the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territory. Student campaigns and educational initiatives were also suggested as part of a broader outreach strategy aimed at engaging younger generations.

The proposals are set to undergo expert review within the executive committee before final implementation.

Observers say this year’s World Quds Day rally comes at a sensitive juncture for the region, with organizers seeking to reinforce public solidarity with Palestine and project a unified message amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
