Hawzah News Agency- In a message marking the month of Rabi al-Awwal and the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Hojatoleslam Seyyed Sajid Ali Naqvi said the blessed occasion must be commemorated with grandeur, but emphasized that beyond the celebrations, attention must be paid to the practical message and teachings of this occasion.
"The life, conduct, and character of the Holy Prophet demand that, in light of his teachings, we strive to strengthen unity and solidarity among Muslims, address existing shortcomings in society and governance, and pave the way for a community founded on justice, welfare, and Islamic values," Naqvi stated.
The Pakistani Shia leader pointed to the extensive commonalities binding Muslims together, noting that all Muslims believe in one God, one Prophet, one Quran, and one Qibla, alongside numerous other shared principles.
"Subsidiary and sectarian differences must not become a factor for enmity and division. Rather, these matters should be discussed in a scholarly, respectful atmosphere with proper decorum and ethics," he said.
Naqvi emphasized that insulting the sanctities of any Islamic school of thought is unacceptable, calling on all Muslims to completely refrain from any action that wounds the sentiments of followers of other denominations.
He urged the public and staff of religious and social institutions to demonstrate through action that preserving the unity of the Islamic Ummah is a collective responsibility.
"Strengthening religious convergence and expanding the spirit of brotherhood and mutual respect are among the most pressing needs of the Islamic world today," Naqvi said.
The senior cleric further called for a clear message to elements of discord and sectarianism, declaring that Muslims will not permit the unity and cohesion of the Islamic Ummah to be undermined.
"Muslims must strengthen brotherhood, tolerance, mutual respect, and empathy at all levels, and drawing inspiration from the conduct of the Holy Prophet, march forward on the path of unity and the dignity of the Islamic Ummah," he concluded.
