President Pezeshkian Vows Continued Full Support for Armed Forces

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reaffirmed his administration's unwavering support for the country's armed forces, stressing that the government will spare no effort in meeting their needs and strengthening national defense capabilities despite existing challenges.

Hawzah News Agency- The pledge came during a cabinet session held Wednesday in Tehran, where ministers reviewed a range of strategic issues including the removal of obstacles to economic cooperation with Afghanistan, facilitation of border exchanges, the latest status of electricity supply and imbalance, countering illegal cryptocurrency mining, expansion of banking and trade ties with regional countries and BRICS members, as well as the achievements and capabilities of the country's defense industry.

Expanding Economic Ties with Afghanistan

A detailed report was presented on the agriculture minister's visit to Afghanistan. According to the report, Afghan officials welcomed the expansion of bilateral relations and expressed readiness to increase trade exchanges between the two countries.

The session also addressed key obstacles hindering economic cooperation, including customs issues, border crossing delays, and slow goods transit procedures.

President Pezeshkian underscored the strategic importance of developing economic relations with Afghanistan, stating that the level of cooperation between the two countries must rise beyond the current status. He directed executive bodies to seriously address trade and transit obstacles with a problem-solving approach.

"What justification is there for trucks to remain stranded in queues at the Dogharoun border crossing for twenty days?" Pezeshkian asked, emphasizing the need to facilitate transport fleet movement at borders.

Electricity Capacity Boost

Energy Minister reported on the latest electricity supply situation and production capacity development plans. According to the report, the inauguration of a 500-megawatt power plant and a 3,000-megawatt facility by next week will add a total of 3,500 megawatts to the national grid, significantly contributing to reducing the electricity imbalance.

The minister also identified the proliferation of illegal cryptocurrency mining operations as a major challenge facing the energy sector, presenting a report on ongoing measures to identify and counter these activities. He stressed the continuation of monitoring and enforcement actions, as well as the necessity of strengthening mechanisms to detect and prevent illegal mining.

Banking and Trade Expansion

The Central Bank governor reported on his participation in the BRICS summit and consultations with member states, noting that various countries have expressed interest in developing cooperation and strengthening economic and financial engagement with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He also reported on his visit to Iraq, including meetings with the prime minister and central bank governor, where issues facing Iranian traders — particularly in the export sector — were discussed, with emphasis placed on pursuing and resolving existing problems.

Defense Industry Achievements

Marking Defense Industry Day, the acting defense minister presented a report on the development of defense capabilities and achievements in this sector. The report highlighted the significant growth of defense capabilities over the past two years and the expansion of technological capacities across various domains, including missile production, drones, and other defense equipment.

The acting minister also detailed the role of government support in strengthening defense infrastructure and developing indigenous technologies. He noted that the performance of the country's defense systems in confronting recent large-scale attacks was the product of sustained investment, specialized knowledge, and national human resource capabilities.

President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the efforts and services of the defense ministry's managers, specialists, and personnel, emphasizing the continuation of comprehensive government support for the armed forces.

"Just as full support for the armed forces has been on the government's agenda in the past, this support will continue despite existing limitations and challenges," Pezeshkian stated. "The government, within the framework of its responsibilities, will spare no effort in meeting the needs of the armed forces and strengthening the country's defense capabilities."

He emphasized that preserving and enhancing the country's defense authority, strengthening strategic infrastructure, and removing obstacles to economic and trade activities require coordination, synergy, and effective action from all executive bodies.
