Iranian cleric hails fishermen as unsung guardians of maritime borders

The representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture has praised the country’s fishing community for their vital role in strengthening food security, describing them as the “unassuming border guards” of Iran’s maritime frontiers.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking during a meeting with the deputy minister and head of the Iran Fisheries Organization, Hojatoleslam Seyyed Reza Rabani highlighted the Iranian people as the nation’s greatest asset, noting that despite hardships and challenges, they have remained loyal to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.

“Service in the Islamic Republic must be carried out with divine intention, a spirit of selfless dedication, and a sincere approach toward the people, because honest service to the public and earning their satisfaction lies on the path of divine approval,” Rabani said.

He underscored the fishing community’s contribution to the national economy, stating that fishermen play a key role in supplying the protein needs of society while their continued presence in the country’s territorial waters serves a strategic purpose beyond economic production.

“Fishermen work under difficult and hazardous conditions, enduring numerous hardships and risks, and their efforts and sacrifices deserve recognition and serious attention from officials,” he added.

The cleric stressed that the role of fishermen in advancing the resistance economy and ensuring food security must not be overlooked, calling for a thorough assessment of their problems and the removal of existing obstacles.

“Fisheries managers must adopt a spirit of dedication and faith to accurately identify the legal, infrastructural, and livelihood challenges facing the fishing community and take action to resolve them,” Rabani said, adding that progress in this regard should be continuously monitored.

For his part, the head of the Iran Fisheries Organization paid tribute to the resilience and steadfastness of the country’s fishermen.

“Despite economic hardships and the difficulties of working at sea, Iran’s proud fishermen have never abandoned their post and have fulfilled their national duty with loyalty and a sense of responsibility,” Rostampour said.

He added that the fishermen have consistently stood by the Islamic establishment and the country, describing their loyalty and spirit as a valuable asset for the Iran Fisheries Organization in advancing development plans and supporting producers in the sector.
