Hawzah News Agency- The five-day event, held every year in the Islamic month of Rabi' al-Awwal, brings together scholars and Muslims from various schools of thought to discuss the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as well as ways to strengthen unity among Muslims.
The ceremony opened with prayers led by Sheikh Rabi' Funtua. Abban Sideh recited verses from the Holy Qur'an and the Ziyarat of the Prophet (PBUH), while the Union of Poets performed eulogies in praise of the Prophet.
The keynote speaker, Sheikh Sharif Ahmad Suleija, presented a paper titled "Examining the Life of the Prophet (PBUH) in Mecca: Muslim Relations with Non-Muslims; Lessons for Nigerian Society."
In his address, Suleija highlighted the character of the Prophet, noting that even before his prophethood, the people of Mecca recognized his honesty, trustworthiness, and justice, granting him the title "Al-Amin" (The Trustworthy).
He emphasized that the Prophet's conduct toward non-Muslims offers vital lessons on building relations based on justice, human dignity, and moral excellence.
The speaker also praised Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky for continuing the path of da'wah and said Nigeria's salvation lies in returning to the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) and his purified household (AS), as well as upholding truth and justice in the face of oppression.
Suleija described Sheikh Zakzaky's resilience in the face of persecution as a model for Muslims, urging attendees to study the life of the Prophet more seriously and apply his teachings in society.
Following the keynote speech, Sheikh Rabi' Funtua provided additional commentary on the main points raised, and the session concluded with closing prayers by Dr. Amin Yabo.
