Hawzah News Agency- Sheikh al-Khatib then addressed the internal situation, saying to those present: "In light of the difficult circumstances our people are facing, both in terms of security and the economy, as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression, the financial blockade, and the state's inability to fulfill its responsibilities in confronting the aggression, liberating the land, facilitating the return of displaced persons to their villages, rebuilding the country, freeing prisoners, and the international collusion and threats of a large-scale war on Lebanon, the enemy, having failed to break our will, defeat us, and alter the internal balance of power, now seeks to impose direct negotiations on Lebanon by once again threatening to expand the war.
In recent days, it has launched multiple attacks targeting villages and cities in the south, resulting in a number of civilian martyrs and wounded, the destruction of some homes, and the terrorizing of civilians''.
He said: “While we condemn these brutal attacks, we call upon the Lebanese government not to succumb to the enemy’s demands and to insist on implementing Resolution 1701. With the steadfastness of our people, our internal unity, and a unified official stance, we are capable, God willing, of thwarting its objectives, just as we did in the past. Our resolve will not waver, and we will not back down from defending our country’s sovereignty, our national territory, and the dignity of our people, no matter how intense the pressure or how great the sacrifices''.
He addressed those who were betting on exploiting our suffering, saying: "You have fallen morally and nationally, and your bets will fall. Lebanon will remain a homeland for all its sons and daughters. We regret that some are betting on the enemy and the illusion of their fellow citizens' downfall. It would be better for us to support one another and strengthen each other's resolve in confronting the enemy. Lebanon will not smile as long as its south is suffering''.
He concluded: "We also place our trust in the position of His Excellency the President of the Republic and the Lebanese Army, and we support his proposal to suspend the decision to restrict weapons in response to the enemy's continued aggression against Lebanon. We hope the government will respond positively to this proposal''.
