Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Second International Conference on Comparative Studies of Ethics in Islam and Christianity, Rev. Narcissian described love as “the essential force and essence of the Christian moral system.”
He said that according to the teachings of Jesus Christ (PBUH), true worship is expressed through pure and sincere deeds devoted to serving others. “Reasonable and acceptable worship,” he noted, “is the offering of actions free from impurity to the divine court.”
Rev. Narcissian emphasized that Christian ethics—centered on love, honesty, justice, cooperation, and respect for human dignity—can play a vital role in addressing the moral and social challenges of the modern world. These principles, he said, extend beyond individual behavior to form the foundation of justice and social health within institutions and societies.
Highlighting the universal nature of love in Christian teachings, he said: “The moral force of Christ is love—a love that transcends ethnic and religious boundaries and even includes one’s enemies. Such love can foster solidarity and ease tensions amid global crises.”
Citing the sacred texts of Judaism and Christianity, Rev. Narcissian explained that love for God is realized through love for humanity, since every person is created in the image of the Divine. Acts of benevolence and service, he said, “liberate humanity from darkness and evil.”
Referring to the Iranian context, Rev. Narcissian praised the long-standing friendship between Muslims and Armenians, describing it as a guarantee of lasting peace and mutual respect. He also pointed to the sacrifices of Armenian soldiers during the Holy Defense as “a living example of practical love, loyalty, and responsibility toward the homeland.”
He concluded by saying: “Mutual love between Muslims and Armenians is a lamp that lights the path of peace and friendship. Under its light, no challenge is insurmountable.”
