In an interview with Hawzah News Agency, he stressed that surrendering to enemies means accepting humiliation and loss of independence. “History shows that nations which handed over their fate to others ended in slavery and disgrace,” he said, adding that the enemies of Islam seek only to impose illegitimate and inhumane demands.
Quranic command for strength
The cleric stated that the Islamic Revolution, inspired by the Quran and teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), has always resisted the enemies with courage. He cited the Quranic command to equip and strengthen facilities against aggressors, emphasizing that any form of surrender or compromise contradicts divine instruction.
He added that the decision-making of the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic apparatus is based on honor, wisdom, and expediency, noting that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution provides the framework for negotiations and guides officials with foresight, considering the conditions of the country, the region, and the world.
Nuclear and defense rights non-negotiable
Ghaem-Maqami stressed that any negotiations with Western countries will never include abandoning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, military preparedness, or support for the resistance front. “If the Islamic Republic accepts peace or a ceasefire, it does so from a position of authority and wisdom, as was the case in previous regional experiences,” he said.
He criticized those influenced by Western civilization or intimidated by the enemy’s outward power, calling any statement that undermines national rights illogical and doomed to failure. “The Iranian nation will safely pass this historical turning point with wisdom, while disgrace will remain for those who trusted the West,” he noted.
Standing firm against psychological warfare
The seminary professor also warned against efforts to spread despair in society by suggesting that rejecting Western conditions would lead to collapse. “Over the past 47 years, enemies have tried repeatedly, with the help of some domestic groups lacking proper analysis, to instill fear among the people. Each time, the measures of the Supreme Leader thwarted these plans,” he said.
